About The Founder

Soribel Martinez, LCSW, MBA, MSW, MS

Soribel Martinez, LCSW, works in alignment with her purpose of helping others create the life of their dreams. She believes everyone can achieve greatness if they seek guidance from their Creator and commit to doing their part. Soribel founded JC’s Precious Minds Foundation in 2021 to honor the memory of her son, Jean-Carlos. She developed the foundation because success never happens in a vacuum – we all need support to achieve our potential. The resources provided by JC’s Precious Minds Foundation help children and their families do just that.

Soribel believes in honoring the women and family members who came before her and paved the path to her success. She believes in honoring herself by answering the call for her purpose, and she seeks to honor the future generation by creating a legacy and a blueprint for growth and success.

Soribel was born in the Dominican Republic and immigrated to the United States when she was twelve. She holds bachelor’s degrees in psychology and biology from Post University and completed two years of medical school at SABA School of Medicine before deciding mental health care was her true calling. She achieved a master’s degree in psychology and social work and then returned for her MBA because she had always dreamed of running her own business. A believer in lifelong learning, Soribel is currently a Doctor of Social Work candidate at Walden University.

Soribel accomplishes her purpose of helping others create their dream lives by working as a psychotherapist, business coach, and consultant while running a private group therapy practice. She developed the principles of the Million Dollar Private Practice to build and scale SMPyschotherapy and Counseling Services into the dynamic practice it is today. SMPsychotherapy employs over twenty-five licensed mental health therapists, two psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, and administrative staff. Soribel’s group practice serves over eleven thousand clients. Her coaching programs help other women build and scale their own businesses and create their dream lives.

In 2013 Soribel had a routine ultrasound at 36 weeks pregnant. With her young son sitting next to her, she learned that her salsa-dancing baby boy, Jean-Carlos, had passed. She and John Anthony would not welcome a new baby into their home. As she processed this grief, she never asked God why he took her son – Soribel’s God is not vindictive, and there often isn’t a reason for such loss. Instead, she prayed to God to help her use her grief to further her purpose of assisting others to create happy, healthy lives. In 2019, Soribel founded JC’s Precious Minds Foundation to honor the loss of her son and to ensure that single mothers of children with special needs have the support they need.

In addition to being a CEO, and the founder of a non-profit, Soribel is a mother, a speaker, a storyteller, an adjunct professor of Psychology at Post University, and a member of the Post University’s Malcolm Baldrige School of Business-Management Advisory Board. She’s a bestselling author and has contributed to a leadership anthology her first full-length book, Unbreakable, is releasing in March 2023. All proceeds from the sale of Unbreakable go directly to JC’s Precious Minds Foundation and further our mission to provide psychological, educational, and financial support to single Dominican mothers of children with special needs such as Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and any disability related to learning.
